Where it came from
The Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV Fan Kansha Tokubetsu Movie was produced by Square Enix as a specialized, limited-run cinematic release. It served as a companion piece to the larger Final Fantasy XV multimedia project, designed to deepen the lore of the Kingdom of Lucis and provide context for the events leading into the main game. This specific cut was created as a gesture of appreciation for the dedicated fan base that had supported the franchise throughout its long and complex development cycle.
The visual design and animation were handled by Square Enix’s internal teams alongside Digic Pictures, aiming for a high-fidelity aesthetic that bridged the gap between photorealistic CGI and classic Japanese RPG stylization. The film was received by audiences as a technical showcase for the Luminous Engine, though it remains a niche piece of memorabilia primarily sought after by series completionists and those interested in the transition of Final Fantasy into an open-world cinematic format.
