Where it came from
Released in 2013, Kira☆Kira 5th Anniversary Live Anime: KICK START GENERATION was produced by studio SILVER LINK to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the original visual novel Kira☆Kira by Overdrive. The project was designed to bring the narrative's central band, Second Literature Club, to the screen in an animated format, capturing the high-energy spirit of the game’s punk-rock inspired aesthetic.
The animation features character designs that adapt the distinct style of the original game's illustrator, Katakura Shinji. By focusing on the live performance aspect of the story, the production sought to bridge the gap between the game’s visual novel roots and a concert-style visual experience, ultimately serving as a targeted celebration for the established fanbase who had followed the franchise since its 2007 debut.
