Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo Special: Ryou-san no Sushi Kuinee! - Choujou Maguro Taiketsu!!

This special was produced in 2007 as a supplementary animation release tied to the long-running Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo franchise, commonly known as Kochikame. Created by Osamu Akimoto, the series originated in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1976 and chronicles the comedic antics of Kankichi Ryotsu, a middle-aged police officer stationed in a local Tokyo neighborhood. This specific release continues the tradition of the franchise's episodic specials, which often placed the eccentric protagonist in high-stakes, absurd culinary or competitive situations intended to highlight the lighthearted, blue-collar charm of the original manga.

The production design reflects the established visual style of the Studio Gallop adaptations, focusing on expressive, slapstick-oriented character animation that maintains the frantic pace of Akimoto's original artwork. Like many of the Kochikame specials, this entry was intended to provide fans with extended, standalone comedic narratives that were not necessarily tethered to the main television series' ongoing story arcs. It was received as a nostalgic extension of the core series, appealing primarily to the loyal domestic audience that had followed Ryotsu's exploits for over three decades.
