Where it came from
Koisuru Asteroid: KiraKira Zoukangou was produced in 2020 as a special ONA (Original Net Animation) episode accompanying the anime adaptation of Quro's manga series. The series follows a group of students in a high school astronomy and geology club, focusing on their shared dream of discovering a new asteroid. This short was created to expand upon the charm of the main series, offering viewers additional character-driven moments that highlight the educational and wholesome themes central to the franchise.
The animation was handled by Doga Kobo, a studio well-regarded for its work on character-focused slice-of-life anime. The aesthetic remains consistent with the main series, utilizing vibrant colors and expressive character designs to emphasize the curiosity and scientific wonder of the protagonists.
