“Kotonoha Breakdown” is a song based on the motif of happenings around the Internet following the clear memories of 3.11 (The Great Tohoku Earthquake of March 11, 2011).
This song expresses the sudden change to ordinary lives, the vanity of the meanings and the power of words that were being interpreted incorrectly and spread by people who may not have properly understood them, as expressed through the personalities of fhána's members with their vivid imagery and sound.

Where it came from
Kotonoha Breakdown is a notable track and visual component within the Vocaloid music scene, emerging from the early 2010s digital culture surrounding the software developed by AH-Software. It centers on the character Kotonoha Akane, whose voicebank was designed to provide a naturalistic Kansai dialect, reflecting a broader trend in the Vocaloid community of diversifying the linguistic and regional personality profiles of synthetic singers.
The piece was crafted to showcase the versatility of the Kotonoha voicebanks, balancing complex melodic patterns with the distinct speech inflections characteristic of the software. Its design and composition were met with appreciation from the producer community for successfully bridging the gap between mechanical vocal synthesis and expressive, emotive storytelling, solidifying its place as a representative work for the Kotonoha series.
