Where it came from
Kuang Shenmo Zun, also known as The Demonic King Who Chases His Wife, was produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures as a 3D-animated ONA series. Released in the late 2010s, it belongs to the prolific wave of Chinese web-novel adaptations that surged in popularity during that era. The series is based on a well-known fantasy romance web novel, catering to the growing market for serialized long-form animation centered on cultivation and transmigration themes.
The production utilizes standard industry 3D character modeling and CGI environments, common for high-output digital animation studios in China at the time. The series aims to replicate the dramatic character dynamics and fast-paced narrative progression characteristic of the xianxia genre. While it has maintained a consistent audience within the domestic streaming ecosystem, its reception is typical of high-frequency episodic adaptations, finding success primarily among established fans of the original source material and the broader Tencent platform library.
