Junta Shiraishi has just one goal: to experience youth to the fullest! But this is easier said than done. Junta is so socially invisible that people at school would swear he skipped class even when he’s sitting right behind them. Everything changes when Junta meets Nagisa Kubo. She’s the only person who pays Junta any attention, and her constant teasing is sure to turn Junta’s quiet life upside down because Kubo won’t let him be invisible!

Where it came from
Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible is an anime adaptation of the manga series by Nene Yukimori, brought to life by the animation studio PINE JAM. The series, which aired in 2023, explores the gentle dynamic between Shiraishi, a boy who is so unremarkable he is effectively invisible, and Kubo, his classmate who takes a keen interest in teasing him into visibility. The narrative is centered on a slice-of-life aesthetic that emphasizes subtle character interactions and the quiet, incremental growth of their social confidence.
The studio's approach to the design prioritizes a soft, clean visual style that mirrors the low-stakes, heartwarming tone of the source material. By focusing on the interplay of light and simple character designs, the team aimed to capture the intimate world of the protagonists. The series was met with appreciation for its calming atmosphere and its faithful depiction of the original work's playful character-driven humor.
