When his friend Natsu, who is a successor of Japanese emigrants family, gives him the gift of an ancient sword, strange events unfold, and even stranger people drop out of the sky to attack. Now Galan must overcome his ineptitude and join a bunch of beautiful women in a wacky romp through a kingdom that time forgot. Hey, what could be better?

Where it came from
Labyrinth of Flames, released in 2000 as an original video animation by Bandai Visual, emerged during a period of experimentation for the medium, blending high-energy action with the stylized, kinetic aesthetic that defined much of the late nineties and early millennium anime output. The narrative follows a treasure hunter who finds herself drawn into an ancient, mystical trap, reflecting the genre’s fascination with tomb-raiding tropes and supernatural adventure stories that were popular in manga and animation at the time.
The production is notable for its involvement of industry talent, including director Hiroyuki Kanbe, who aimed to capture a sense of pulse-pounding urgency and visual flair. Upon its release, the title was recognized for its polished animation quality and its clear homage to classic pulp adventure serials, though it remains a niche entry in the extensive Bandai Visual catalog, appreciated primarily by collectors of standalone OVAs from that transitional era.
