Where it came from
Last Night, Good Night was composed by the musician Livetune, also known as kz, and released in 2008 through the label Toy's Factory. The track is one of the most significant early compositions featuring the vocal synthesis software Hatsune Miku, marking a pivotal moment in the rise of Vocaloid music as a mainstream cultural phenomenon in Japan.
The song is widely celebrated for its dreamlike, melancholic atmosphere, which contrasted with the high-energy, fast-paced electronic tracks that dominated the early Vocaloid scene. Its success helped establish Hatsune Miku as a legitimate musical performer, leading to a decade of revisions and high-profile remixes that cemented its status as a foundational piece of digital music history.
