Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam - Over the Wishes

Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing - Over the Wishes serves as a cinematic compilation and re-imagining of the 2011 television anime series Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing. Produced by Studio Gonzo, the project was released in 2016 to coincide with the series' anniversary, aiming to synthesize the sprawling aerial narrative of the original show into a more focused feature-length experience. The film revisits the story of Fam Fan Fan, a young pilot in a world defined by its complex steam-punk aesthetics and high-stakes aerial warfare.

The visual design of the series and the film is rooted in the distinct style established by Range Murata, whose character designs are known for their intricate, neo-Victorian industrialism and muted, atmospheric color palettes. By distilling the episodic television run into this movie format, the production team sought to refine the pacing of the storyline while retaining the signature mechanical design that fans of the franchise had come to associate with the Last Exile universe.
