Imagine two irresponsible siblings (Fuko and Yoshiharu) living under the care of an equally or more irresponsible father (Amachi). Then add some bizarre stuff, like cobras, bad jokes, adult videos, seductive grannies, farting, stupid remarks and insults, terribly foul language, and a nonsensical plethora of strange happenings...

Where it came from
Let's Dance with Papa, known in Japan as Papa no Iu Koto o Kikinasai!, emerged from Studio DEEN in 1999 as a short-form anime series. Produced during a period when the studio was diversifying its portfolio across various genres, the project aimed to provide lighthearted, episodic entertainment centered on familial dynamics and the challenges of parenting. It reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of late-90s television animation, prioritizing character-driven vignettes over complex overarching plots.
The creative direction focused on accessible, warm storytelling that emphasized the bond between a father figure and his children. While Studio DEEN was concurrently working on more prominent action and fantasy titles, this series served as a quiet exploration of domestic life. Its reception was modest, finding an audience primarily among viewers who appreciated the specific, gentle tone of 1990s slice-of-life animation, though it remains a relatively obscure entry in the studio's extensive catalog.
