Where it came from
Released in 2009 by the independent animation studio ChiChinoya, Let's Have Sex is an adult-oriented original video animation (OVA) that reflects the niche aesthetic movements within the Japanese underground erotic animation scene of the late 2000s. The production is characteristic of the studio's broader commitment to experimental, stylized character designs and surreal narrative structures, which often prioritizes atmospheric visual storytelling over traditional plot progression.
The animation style associated with this work is noted for its deliberate, dreamlike pacing and a distinct reliance on minimalist, high-contrast imagery that deviates from the mainstream aesthetic of the era's commercial animation. It is largely recognized by collectors of the studio’s catalog for its unconventional approach to erotic themes, representing a specific period in ChiChinoya’s history where the studio was exploring the limits of non-linear animation techniques within adult media.
