It was at this time that the young man Ye Bugui, who was carrying an important secret, broke free from the protection of the Sword Spirit Island and appeared in front of everyone. His appearance broke the balance and the conspiracy that had lain dormant since the end of the war resurfaced. While trying to protect the world, Ye Bugui is aware of his own destiny. His life journey is full of dangers, with people joining and leaving him along the way. The meaning behind his name, "Bu Gui" - "no return", may just be his fate.

Where it came from
Liuxing Huan Jian, also known as Meteor Butterfly Sword, is an animated ONA series produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures. The project was developed as part of a broader push by Chinese digital media conglomerates to adapt classic wuxia literature into high-fidelity 3D animation, aiming to modernize traditional martial arts storytelling for younger, streaming-oriented audiences.
The visual design draws heavily from contemporary Chinese animation styles, prioritizing fluid combat choreography and atmospheric world-building to capture the tension of the original Gu Long novel. Upon its release on Tencent Video, it was received as a technically ambitious attempt to condense complex wuxia narratives into a serialized episodic format, reflecting the growing trend of utilizing advanced motion capture and rendering techniques in Chinese web-based media.
