Little Women II: Jo's Boys

Little Women II: Jo's Boys was produced by Nippon Animation as part of their long-running World Masterpiece Theater series. Airing in 1993, the series served as a direct sequel to the studio's 1987 adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's original novel. The project aimed to capture the transition of the March sisters' children into adulthood, maintaining the series' reputation for pastoral, character-driven storytelling set against the backdrop of late 19th-century American life.

The series was directed by Kouzo Kusuba, who brought a signature gentle aesthetic that defined much of the studio’s output during the 1990s. While the narrative sought to modernize Alcott's sequel, Jo's Boys, for a younger audience, it was received as a nostalgic continuation of the World Masterpiece Theater legacy. The design focused on consistent character continuity and period-accurate settings, remaining a notable example of Japanese animation's historical interest in Western literary classics.
