Where it came from
The Locodol OVA series was produced by the animation studio feel. as a direct follow-up to the 2014 television anime adaptation of Kōtarō Kosugi’s manga series, Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita. Released in 2015, the project sought to capitalize on the modest success of the original series by offering fans additional episodes that explored the daily lives and regional promotional activities of the fictional idol duo, Nanako Usami and Yukari Kohinata, in the town of Nagarekawa.
The production maintained the aesthetic and lighthearted tone established by the television series, focusing on the charm of rural idol culture. Directed by Munenori Nawa, the OVA was designed to satisfy the niche audience of the original franchise, providing further character development within the low-stakes, slice-of-life framework that characterized the series. It was received as a gentle continuation for established fans, maintaining the studio's consistent approach to character-driven storytelling without significantly altering the source material's established format.
