Long Zhong Ren

Long Zhong Ren, or 'People in the Crowd', was produced by White Paper Animation as an ONA that emerged during a period of experimentation within the Chinese independent animation scene. It reflects a shift toward minimalist, character-driven storytelling that focuses on the mundane rhythms of urban life rather than traditional genre tropes, aiming to capture a sense of collective isolation in rapidly modernizing landscapes.

The animation style is defined by a restrained color palette and fluid, observational movement that mirrors the anonymity of its subjects. Critics and audiences recognized it as a poignant exploration of social detachment, praising the studio for its ability to transform everyday interactions into a meditative visual experience without relying on heavy dialogue or complex narrative arcs.
