Maha-Stamaprapta Bodhisattva's Preachment on Being Mindful of the Buddha

This text, derived from the Shurangama Sutra, represents a pivotal discourse in Mahayana Buddhist thought. It centers on the Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta’s method of achieving enlightenment through constant mindfulness of the Buddha, a practice that emphasizes the use of one's faculties—specifically the faculty of hearing—to return to the source of pure awareness. Historically, this preachment has served as a foundational doctrine for Pure Land Buddhism, emphasizing internal focused meditation as a path to liberation.

The translation and dissemination of this text have historically been guided by monastic scholars dedicated to preserving the integrity of the original Sanskrit and Chinese canonical versions. The design and layout of these special editions often incorporate traditional woodblock printing styles or classical calligraphy intended to encourage a meditative reading experience. While the specific authorship of this particular format is tied to a lineage of Buddhist scholarship, the work is universally received within the tradition as a concise guide for practitioners seeking to cultivate uninterrupted mindfulness.
