Nothing in this world is more dangerous than a witch. The epitome of fear and terror, they can summon floods on a whim, conjure balls of fire out of the air, or even destroy entire countries overnight. Incur their wrath, and no one is safe.
At least, that’s what everyone thinks, and it’s the very reason they all want Siasha dead. After yet another violent battle for her life, she teams up with Zig, a mercenary, and they depart for unknown lands to find somewhere she can live in peace. But is the pair any match for the lost magic and vicious monstrosities that lie ahead?

Where it came from
Produced by Nippon Television Network and released in 2027, Majo to Youhei emerged as a notable addition to the studio's mid-decade slate of animated fantasy programming. Developed within a competitive landscape of television anime, the series sought to explore themes of moral ambiguity through the interplay between its titular witch and mercenary characters. It reflects the studio's ongoing interest in adapting high-concept narratives that blend dark fantasy elements with traditional character-driven storytelling.
The series design is characteristic of the contemporary digital production standards favored by major Japanese networks during this period, emphasizing atmospheric lighting and distinct character silhouettes. Creative leadership aimed to move away from purely episodic structures, opting instead for a serialized format that allowed for deliberate world-building. Upon its broadcast, the show was evaluated by critics as a technically proficient effort that successfully leveraged the studio's long-standing experience in domestic television production.
