Where it came from
Master of Martial Hearts, known in Japan as Zettai Shougeki: Platonic Heart, was produced by Studio ARMS and released as an original video animation series beginning in 2008. The project emerged during a period when the studio was heavily focused on producing mature-themed action and fan-service-oriented anime, utilizing a premise that centered on a secret underground tournament where female combatants fought for a prize known as the Platonic Heart.
The series was directed by Yoshitaka Fujimoto and designed to blend high-stakes martial arts competition with the stylistic tropes common to the studio's output at the time. Reception of the work was largely focused on its technical animation quality and its departure from typical sports narratives, though it remains a niche entry in the studio's historical catalogue, primarily remembered for its distinctive character designs and unconventional tournament structure.
