Web shorts to promote the city of Miharu, Fukushima.
Instead of developing a strictly historical story, the anime looks into the near future where a virtual game called "IXA" exists. Within "IXA" are artificial intelligence versions of Megohime and historical warlords.

Where it came from
Megohime was released in 2019 as a promotional ONA produced by Studio Gaina. The project was conceived as an initiative for the city of Miharu in Fukushima Prefecture, designed to serve as a high-quality tourism advertisement that highlights the local history and culture, specifically focusing on the legacy of the historical figure Megohime, also known as Yoshihime, who was born in the region.
The animation features character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, renowned for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion. Sadamoto aimed to blend contemporary anime aesthetics with the traditional narrative of the Sengoku-period noblewoman, creating a visually distinct aesthetic that separates the work from standard municipal promotion videos. The ONA was well-received within the anime community for its high production values and its creative approach to local regional branding.
