Where it came from
Megumi to Taiyou: Kajuu Gummi Tweet Love Story was produced in 2011 as a promotional short commissioned by Meiji to advertise their Kajuu Gummi fruit gummy products. Directed by Morio Asaka and animated by Studio Madhouse, the piece was part of a multimedia marketing campaign that leveraged social media engagement to create a narrative centered on the brand.
The project featured character designs by manga artist Keito Koume, known for a soft and emotive aesthetic intended to appeal to a demographic interested in romantic slice-of-life vignettes. The short was designed to bridge the gap between traditional broadcast animation and internet-native storytelling, receiving attention for its clean, modern production quality despite its commercial origins.
