Meitantei Conan: Haibara Ai Monogatari - Kurogane no Mystery Train

Released in 2023, Meitantei Conan: Haibara Ai Monogatari - Kurogane no Mystery Train serves as a specialized compilation film within the long-running Detective Conan franchise. Produced by Toho and TMS Entertainment, the film was designed to bridge the gap between the show's television episodes and the theatrical release of the franchise's twenty-sixth feature film. It focuses specifically on the character arc of Ai Haibara, curating key scenes from the iconic Mystery Train story arc to provide context and emotional depth for casual viewers and long-time fans alike.

The film's structural design relies on re-editing pivotal episodes from the original anime series to craft a cohesive narrative centered on Haibara’s complex relationship with the Black Organization. By distilling the intricate plot points of the mystery train sequence, the production team sought to highlight character development and suspense, ensuring that audiences were fully prepared for the themes explored in the following theatrical installment. The release was well received by the franchise's dedicated following, serving as both a refresher for veterans and an accessible entry point for newcomers to the series' most high-stakes conflicts.
