Where it came from
Meitantei Conan: Conan vs. Kid - Shikkoku no Sniper is a special compilation feature released in 2006, designed to showcase the long-standing rivalry between the series protagonist, Conan Edogawa, and the master thief Kaito Kid. It was produced by TMS Entertainment as part of the broader promotional efforts for the Detective Conan franchise, which had established itself as a cultural phenomenon in Japan following the debut of Gosho Aoyama’s original manga in 1994.
The production sought to consolidate key narrative arcs involving the 'Phantom Thief' to capitalize on the character's immense popularity among fans. By re-editing sequences from the television series into a cohesive feature, the release allowed viewers to experience the high-stakes cat-and-mouse dynamic between the two leads. It remains a notable entry for enthusiasts interested in the evolution of these specific character interactions within the animation history of the series.
