Mieruko-chan originated as a manga series by Tomoki Izumi, which gained significant traction online before being adapted into a television anime by studio Passione in 2021. The narrative blends elements of horror and dark comedy, centering on a high school girl who suddenly gains the ability to perceive terrifying, grotesque spirits.
