Mirage

Mirage was produced by Studio Gohan as a specialized piece within their broader experimental animation line. Emerging during a period when the studio sought to bridge the gap between traditional cel aesthetics and digital fluidity, the item reflects the team's commitment to minimalist visual storytelling. The project was conceived as a mood piece, prioritizing atmospheric world-building over conventional narrative structure to showcase the technical capabilities of their then-new rendering software.

The visual design of the piece is attributed to the studio’s core creative department, who drew heavy inspiration from mid-century modernist graphic design and early twentieth-century architectural photography. By utilizing a restrained color palette and sharp, geometric compositions, the designers intended to evoke a sense of quiet isolation. Upon its release, the work was noted by industry critics for its technical precision and became a case study in university animation courses for its effective use of negative space.
