Miyori no Mori

Miyori no Mori was produced by Nippon Animation as a feature-length television special in 2007. The film is based on the manga series by Hideji Oda and serves as a poignant exploration of environmental themes and childhood transition. Directed by Nizo Yamamoto, who is renowned for his art direction on various Studio Ghibli classics, the special was created to capture the lush, atmospheric beauty of the Japanese countryside and the spiritual connection between humans and nature.

The design of the film is heavily defined by Yamamoto’s signature background art, which emphasizes vibrant, meticulously detailed landscapes that ground the story's fantastical elements. While the project sits within the broader scope of Nippon Animation's diverse portfolio, it is particularly noted for its contemplative tone and focus on ecological conservation. Upon its release, it was well-received by critics for its visual artistry, often being compared to the works of Hayao Miyazaki in both aesthetic depth and thematic resonance.
