Where it came from
Mi Yu Xingzhe, also known as The Maze Walker, is a Chinese original net animation produced by Thundray. Released in the late 2010s, it represents a notable entry in the evolution of Chinese web-based animation, drawing inspiration from survival-themed narratives. The series is grounded in a mystery-thriller structure, focusing on a group of individuals trapped in a complex, shifting labyrinthine environment that forces them to rely on logic and cooperation to survive.
The production design reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of modern digital animation studios in China, prioritizing atmospheric tension and character-driven drama. Thundray sought to blend traditional suspense storytelling with high-contrast visual sequences to distinguish the series within a crowded digital streaming market. Upon its release, the animation was primarily recognized for its unique premise and its contribution to the growing body of domestic Chinese suspense series, finding an audience that appreciated its methodical pacing.
