A.S.122...
An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. After transferring to the Asticassia School of Technology from the planet Mercury, Suletta Mercury has experienced a school life filled with encounters and excitement, as both Miorine Rembran's bridegroom and a member of GUND-ARM, Inc.
It has been two weeks since the incident at Plant Quetta. Suletta passes her days at the school, anticipating her reunion with Miorine. Miorine, meanwhile, has stationed herself at the head office of the Benerit Group, monitoring her father's condition. The two are about to face new hardships and pressing decisions. Where it came from
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2 was produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks' Sunrise studio and premiered in April 2023. As the conclusion to the franchise's first television series led by a female protagonist, it was developed to expand the Gundam audience by balancing traditional mecha combat with themes of corporate politics and personal agency. The season was created to resolve the complex narrative threads established in the first season, specifically regarding the conflict between the Benerit Group and the Earth-based factions.
The series design team, led by character designer Mogumo and mechanical designers including Kanetake Ebikawa, aimed for a distinct aesthetic that blends high-tech realism with the character-driven drama typical of the franchise's post-2020 direction. Reception was notable for its shift toward mature thematic exploration of the protagonist Suletta Mercury’s growth and the moral ambiguity of the series' central technology. It received significant attention from long-time fans and newcomers alike for its focused storytelling and high-fidelity animation production.
