Haru purchases a one of a kind gunpla, the GPB-X80 Beginning Gundam. After building the kit, Haru, now a Gunpla Builder, and the Beginning Gundam enter the virtual world of Gunpla Battle, where players can pilot their customized Gunpla in team matches or one-on-one fights. Where it came from
Mokei Senshi Gunpla Builders Beginning G was released in 2010 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Gunpla model kit line. Produced by Sunrise, this three-part special was designed to act as both an entertainment piece and a meta-narrative celebration of the hobby itself, focusing on a young protagonist who discovers the joy of building and battling with his own customized Gunpla models in a virtual reality environment.
The project was envisioned as a lighthearted, accessible entry point into the Gundam universe, prioritizing the perspective of the model builder over the traditional military drama of the franchise. Directed by Yusuke Onoda, the aesthetic was specifically tailored to appeal to hobbyists, with detailed depictions of the construction process and customization techniques. It was well received for its nostalgic tone and its clear intent to bridge the gap between the animated series and the physical act of model assembly.
