Where it came from
Released in 2017 as an original net animation, Monster Strike 2: A Rhapsody Called Lucy -The Very First Song- serves as a spin-off episode tied to the broader Monster Strike franchise. Produced by studio LIDENFILMS, the project was designed to expand the narrative depth of the game's popular characters, focusing specifically on the origin story of the character Lucy. This format allowed the production team to pivot away from the main storyline to provide a more character-driven, musical-infused narrative that appealed to fans looking for deeper lore within the mobile game universe.
The creative direction behind this entry sought to blend the high-energy aesthetic of the Monster Strike brand with a more melancholic, melodic tone. By centering the animation on Lucy and her musical journey, the studio aimed to highlight the character's emotional motivations, distinguishing this special from the franchise's more action-oriented content. It was received by the community as a thoughtful addition to the series, praised for its unique shift in pace and its commitment to developing the backstories of the game’s increasingly diverse roster.
