My Frame

My Frame is a distinctive project emerging from the Tokyo University of the Arts, known as Geidai, which has long been a prestigious incubator for experimental animation. Produced as part of the studio's broader commitment to nurturing independent creative voices, the film reflects the university's pedagogical approach that prioritizes artistic autonomy and unique visual storytelling over traditional commercial structures. It was created to push the boundaries of how personal narrative can be distilled into the medium of short-form animation.

The design philosophy behind My Frame emphasizes a minimalist aesthetic, favoring deliberate pacing and subtle character movement to explore themes of perception and confinement. By focusing on the interplay between static environments and animated subjects, the creators sought to challenge conventional viewer expectations regarding frame composition. Upon its release, it was noted in academic and festival circles for its technical rigor and its ability to convey profound emotional resonance through an intentionally sparse visual language.
