The series was designed to breathe new life into the yokai genre, utilizing a distinct visual style that leaned into modern digital animation aesthetics while maintaining an atmospheric, eerie tone rooted in classical Japanese ghost stories.
The production was spearheaded by a team focused on bringing the mysterious and often humorous nature of mythological creatures into the everyday lives of modern residents.
