Nanana's Buried Treasure Specials

Nanana's Buried Treasure Specials were produced by A-1 Pictures as a supplementary component to the 2014 anime adaptation of Kazuma Otorino's light novel series. These specials were designed to provide additional character insight and narrative expansion, maintaining the aesthetic style established by the main series director, Kanta Kamei. The production aimed to capture the lighthearted mystery genre prevalent in mid-2010s anime, utilizing the same character designs adapted for the screen by Tetsuya Kawakami.

The broader project, centered on the fictional man-made island of Nanae Island, was received as a stylistic exploration of treasure-hunting tropes. While the main series focused on the central mystery of the protagonist Nanana Ryugajo's murder, the specials leaned into the comedic and situational dynamics between the cast members. The animation, handled by the experienced A-1 Pictures, reflects the studio's commitment to vibrant, high-contrast digital art characteristic of that era, serving as a functional bridge for fans of the source material.
