Neko Reset

Neko Reset is a charming series of miniature vinyl figures produced by the Japanese studio YURUPPE inc. These figures are part of the broader trend of 'gashapon' or blind-box collectibles, which prioritize quirky, character-driven designs intended to bring a sense of whimsy to everyday spaces. The concept centers on the idea of a cat having the ability to 'reset' its physical state, often depicted in humorous, slumped, or fluid poses that playfully subvert the typical grace associated with felines.

The aesthetic of the series leans into the 'yuru-chara' movement, characterized by a relaxed and intentionally unrefined design style. YURUPPE inc. gained recognition for these pieces by focusing on relatable, low-stakes humor that resonates with urban collectors. The figures were conceived as stress-relief objects, designed to be displayed on desks or shelves where their intentionally awkward, blob-like postures serve as a lighthearted visual contrast to the rigid structures of a professional workspace.
