While the young Angelique lives out her days peacefully in her school, attacks from the monstrous Thanatos has been increasing everywhere else. Two Purifiers show up one day, men with the power to exterminate the Thanatos. One of them, Nyx, attempts to convince Angelique to join them in their work, as she has the power to be the only female Purifier. As Angelique hesitates, a Thanatos shows up in their school. Nyx and the other Purifier, Rayne, fight a losing battle. With her classmates falling prey to the Thanatos, and the Purifiers beaten to submission, Angelique's desire to save everyone awakens. She became the only female Purifier in their land of Arcadia, the one known as the "Queen's Egg".

Where it came from
Neo Angelique Abyss is a 2008 television anime series produced by Yumeta Company, adapted from the Neo Angelique video game franchise by Koei. It emerged during a period when the studio was focused on translating popular romance-simulation games into animated formats, aiming to expand the reach of the franchise to an audience that appreciated high-fantasy settings and character-driven narratives.
The character designs were handled by Kairi Yura, who brought the aesthetic of the original visual novel to life. The series was designed to emphasize the dramatic interplay between the protagonist, Angelique, and her diverse band of allies in an era of magical industrialization. It was received as a standard entry in the reverse-harem genre, appreciated primarily by established fans of the game for its fidelity to the source material's tone and visual style.
