A unique trailer found on both the DVDs and on the Disgaea 2 game advertising the anime. The animation for it is completely new, none is recycled from the show itself. Does a decent job of introducing the major characters and general plot, with new battle scenes and an altered plot so as to not give everything away. There's even a boom in shot at one point!

Where it came from
Released in 2006 by Hayakawa Shobou, the Netherworld Battle Chronicle: Disgaea trailer served as a promotional piece tied to the expanded lore and multimedia outreach of the Disgaea series. Following the success of the original tactical role-playing game developed by Nippon Ichi Software, this material was produced to maintain engagement within the franchise’s dedicated community, reflecting the quirky and chaotic aesthetic that defined the series' identity during its mid-2000s rise to prominence.
The creative direction for this trailer emphasized the dark humor and strategic absurdity inherent in the Netherworld setting. By utilizing the distinct character designs associated with the franchise's established visual language, the production aimed to bridge the gap between the original game's cult popularity and the broader narrative expansions occurring under the Hayakawa Shobou label at the time. It remains a snapshot of how the brand actively cultivated its niche appeal through stylized, high-energy promotional media.
