Nine 3: Kanketsu-hen

Nine: Kanketsu-hen, or Nine: The Conclusion, was produced by Group TAC and released in 1984 as the final installment in a television special trilogy based on Mitsuru Adachi's manga series. Following the original 1983 Nine special, this conclusion was created to provide a definitive resolution to the romantic and athletic tensions between the series' protagonists, Katsuya and Yuri. It serves as a classic example of 1980s sports-romance anime, reflecting the era's focus on melodramatic storytelling and character-driven narratives.

The production was helmed by the team at Group TAC, who aimed to maintain the gentle, observational aesthetic that characterized Adachi's work during the decade. Visually, the special employs the soft-focus character designs and warm, pastel-leaning palette typical of the period's animation style. While the trilogy is often overshadowed by later, more commercially massive Adachi adaptations like Touch, it remains a notable entry in the catalog of 1980s television specials for its concise narrative structure and nostalgic atmosphere.
