Where it came from
The Ninja Skooler project emerged from the creative output of Kinema Citrus, a studio known for its meticulous attention to animation fluidity and character-driven narratives. It was conceptualized as a stylized exploration of scholastic life juxtaposed with traditional shinobi themes, designed to capture a blend of high-energy action and lighthearted comedy that reflects the studio's broader commitment to refined digital compositing and vibrant, expressive character designs.
The visual direction for the piece was steered by an internal team focused on balancing sharp, clean silhouettes with a muted color palette to highlight the rhythmic nature of the choreography. Upon its release, it was regarded by industry observers as a technically polished entry within the studio’s portfolio, praised for its cohesive aesthetic and the distinct personality infused into its character models, which helped solidify the studio's reputation for visual consistency.
