Ninjala 2D Cartoon Anime

Ninjala is an original net animation series produced by the Japanese studio Domerica, launched in 2020 to coincide with the release of the free-to-play Nintendo Switch game developed by GungHo Online Entertainment. The shorts were designed to expand the franchise’s vibrant, neon-soaked world, focusing on the comedic antics and ninja training of the game's core cast. By utilizing a stylized 2D aesthetic, the series sought to capture the high-energy, pop-culture-infused spirit of the source material while serving as an accessible entry point for younger players.

The production leans heavily into a distinct urban-anime aesthetic, characterized by exaggerated character expressions and dynamic action sequences that mirror the game's 'ninja-gum' mechanics. Domerica’s approach prioritized fluid movement and bright, saturated color palettes to differentiate the cartoon from more traditional, darker ninja-themed media. Upon release, the series was received primarily as a supplementary promotional tool, praised by the game's community for its lighthearted tone and its ability to build personality for the otherwise silent player-controlled characters.
