Where it came from
Null & Peta: Slippery and Sticky! Big Sister Bikini Battle! is a 2020 original video animation produced by Shin-Ei Animation as a spin-off extension of the 2019 multimedia project Null & Peta. Conceived by Hatoful Boyfriend creator Hato Moa, the franchise was designed as a rapid-production creative experiment that integrated themes of artificial intelligence, sisterly bonds, and absurdist humor, blending a melancholic science fiction premise with a bright, minimalist aesthetic.
The animation features character designs by Eku Uekura, known for their expressive and clean visual style, which remained consistent throughout the franchise’s various iterations. This specific installment leaned into the series' penchant for lighthearted, non-canonical side stories, intentionally shifting the tone toward a classic fanservice-driven beach episode. It was received as a stylistic companion to the main series, reflecting the project’s goal of exploring diverse animation genres within a streamlined, digital-first production framework.
