CGI ramen bowls that look like cats but have the personalities of high school girls talk about every day life things that involve ramen. The opening and ending sequence features them as 2D anime cat-girls with naruto accessories even though they are not represented as such in the actual show.

Where it came from
Nyamen is a 2014 television series produced by the Japanese studio VAP, emerging during a period when the studio was diversifying its portfolio through experimental digital and broadcast content. The series was designed to fit within a niche segment of short-form atmospheric animation, focusing on minimalist visual storytelling and abstract character design to evoke a distinct, melancholy mood that differentiates it from more traditional mainstream anime tropes.
The creative direction behind Nyamen prioritized visual restraint, a stylistic choice intended to emphasize the score and ambient soundscapes over complex narrative progression. Upon its release, the series was received primarily by a dedicated segment of the experimental animation community, who noted its technical precision and the studio's departure from its more commercially driven projects, solidifying its place as a minor but distinct entry in VAP's catalog of 2010s productions.
