Where it came from
Nyancos: Hello! Our Brilliant Future was produced by OLM, Inc. and released in 2003 as an original video animation. It emerged during a period when the studio was heavily focused on high-profile adaptations and experimental short-form content, seeking to capitalize on the aesthetic appeal of character-driven, whimsical narratives that were becoming popular within the burgeoning digital animation landscape of the early 2000s.
The design of the Nyancos series reflects the playful, anthropomorphic character trends prevalent in Japanese animation at the time. While the project is a relatively obscure entry in OLM’s vast portfolio, it serves as a representative example of the studio’s technical versatility and their exploration of independent, self-contained stories outside of their major television franchises. The work is largely remembered by niche collectors of OLM’s experimental catalog as a piece of early-2000s creative exploration.
