Odd Taxi Original Picture Drama

The Odd Taxi Original Picture Drama was released in 2022 as a special supplement to the acclaimed mystery-thriller series originally produced by studio P.I.C.S. and OLM. Conceived as a bridge between the television anime and the 2022 feature film, the drama was crafted to expand upon the complex, character-driven narrative of Odokawa the walrus and his anthropomorphic world. It was developed to satiate audience interest in the aftermath of the series' psychological cliffhanger while maintaining the noir-inspired, dialogue-heavy tone that defined the original production.

The design and visual direction of the picture drama remain consistent with the series' distinctive aesthetic, which eschews traditional vibrant anime tropes for a muted, grounded color palette meant to emphasize the grim, urban atmosphere of the story. Directed by Baku Kinoshita and scripted by Kazuya Konomoto, the project was intended to provide a intimate look at the supporting cast. Critics and fans largely received the addition positively, viewing it as a thoughtful extension that maintained the series' reputation for sharp writing and intricate, puzzle-like storytelling.
