Where it came from
Oh! Family was produced by Knack Productions and aired in Japan in 1986 as a television anime series. Based on the manga by Hinako Ashihara, the story follows the life and domestic dynamics of the Adams family, centering on their experiences as they navigate personal challenges and interpersonal relationships. The production emerged during a period when slice-of-life anime gained traction, focusing on character-driven narratives rather than action or fantasy tropes.
The series was designed to appeal to viewers interested in family dramas, emphasizing a warm and nostalgic aesthetic common to the mid-eighties animation style. While it did not reach the global fame of contemporary hits, it remains a notable example of the era's focus on everyday life. It is remembered by enthusiasts of 1980s television for its earnest approach to storytelling and its contribution to the shojo demographic of the time.
