Where it came from
The 2011 Oh! My Goddess project, specifically the OADs titled 'It's Always My Goddess' and 'Fighting Wings,' emerged as a continuation of the long-running series adapted from Kosuke Fujishima’s manga. Produced by studio AIC, these episodes were bundled with special editions of the manga to commemorate the series' twentieth anniversary. The release sought to maintain the gentle, romantic comedy tone that defined the franchise since its anime debut in the early 1990s.
The design and animation direction for this iteration were handled by studio staff deeply familiar with the source material, aiming to replicate the polished, soft-aesthetic character designs established by the preceding television series. The response from the fan base was largely focused on the nostalgic value of the work, as these OADs served to finalize and adapt specific arcs of the manga that had remained untouched by previous animated iterations.
