Where it came from
Oh! My Goddess: Fighting Wings was produced in 2007 by AIC as a special two-episode OVA series. It serves as an extension of the broader Oh! My Goddess anime franchise, which adapts Kosuke Fujishima’s long-running manga series about a college student named Keiichi Morisato and his life with a trio of goddesses. The narrative in Fighting Wings was designed to bridge specific story arcs, focusing on the character Lind and the ongoing conflicts within the heavenly realm.
The production sought to maintain the refined aesthetic established in the 2005 television series, emphasizing character-driven storytelling and the balance of romantic comedy with fantasy action. While the series maintains a dedicated following among fans of the original manga, critical reception of these specialized OVAs generally focused on how effectively the animation quality matched the high standards set by the preceding television broadcast and the series' iconic character designs.
