Where it came from
Ohayou Ninja-tai Gatchaman was produced by studio ODDJOB and launched in 2011 as a series of short, comedic segments aired during the morning news program Zip! on Nippon TV. The project served as a playful, modern reimagining of the classic 1970s anime Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, designed to engage morning commuters and families with a humorous take on the iconic superhero squad.
The production utilized a distinct, minimalist art style that leaned into parody, often placing the familiar characters in mundane, relatable situations rather than traditional action sequences. By contrasting the serious tone of the original franchise with absurdist workplace and social dynamics, the series became a fixture of Japanese morning television, offering a lighthearted subversion of the source material that resonated with both long-time fans and younger audiences.
