Where it came from
Oni Chichi: Rebuild was released in 2013 by the studio PoRO, serving as a modern remake of the original 2005 Oni Chichi OVA. Produced during a period when the studio was refining its signature aesthetic, this release was designed to update the animation quality and visual fidelity of the source material for a contemporary audience while maintaining the core narrative structure that established the series as a recognizable title within the adult animation genre.
The development of the Rebuild iteration focused on improved character line art and more fluid movement compared to the early-2000s original. By revisiting the established character archetypes, the studio aimed to provide a polished experience for fans of the franchise's specific style. It is generally understood by enthusiasts as a technical update that prioritizes the studio's evolving visual standards, functioning primarily as a stylistic refresh rather than a reimagining of the underlying story.
