Oretacha Youkai Ningen

Oretacha Youkai Ningen was produced in 2017 by DLE as a comedic reimagining of the classic 1968 anime series Youkai Ningen Bem. Created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original franchise, the series shifts the tone from dark, gothic supernatural horror to a lighthearted, gag-focused narrative that follows the three protagonists as they attempt to integrate into modern human society.

The character designs were modernized by the studio to reflect DLE's signature flash-animation style, which emphasizes humorous caricatures and slapstick timing over the eerie, atmospheric aesthetic of the source material. While the project was met with interest from franchise purists curious about the tonal shift, it is primarily recognized as a self-aware, experimental parody that highlights the cultural longevity of the original monster trio.
