Oretacha Youkai Ningen G

Oretacha Youkai Ningen G was produced by DLE Inc. as a 2018 comedic reimagining of the classic 1968 horror-anime series Youkai Ningen Bem. Created as part of a trend to modernize and spoof legacy intellectual properties, the show departs from the atmospheric, dark tone of its predecessor in favor of the rapid-fire, low-budget Flash animation style that became a signature of the DLE studio. It centers on the three iconic protagonists—Bem, Bera, and Bero—attempting to adapt to modern society through absurd, mundane interactions.

The production utilized a minimalist aesthetic designed to prioritize humor and character banter over traditional animation fluidity. By stripping away the tragic, gothic elements of the original series, the writers aimed to appeal to a younger, digitally native audience accustomed to short-form comedy sketches. While it was received as a niche experiment by longtime fans of the franchise, it served as a testament to the enduring presence of the Bem characters in Japanese pop culture, demonstrating their flexibility across entirely disparate creative genres.
